Title: Development and operation of a corrosion-inhibitor-spray pig for offshore gas pipelines
Category: Pigsource Papers
Downloadable: Yes
Catalog No.: pg3177e
Date of Publication: 1994
Price: $25.00 US
Authors: Christopher F Kershaw
Abstract: In 1992, on behalf of a client, Kershaw International commenced a feasibility study to assess and comment on the possibility of carrying corrosion inhibitor on board a multi-module pig and spraying it directly on to the pipe wall. This study, based on spraying a 148-km long, 36-in diameter, offshore pipeline, confirmed the viability of such a pig, and so a full trials' programme commenced, culminating in the running of a dummy pig, followed by the design, manufacture, and successful running of the live corrosion-inhibitor-spray pig.
