Abstract: AN APPROXIMATE MODEL for hoop-stress- increase estimation of pipelines subjected to fluid-hammer conditions is developed. The model takes into account the pressure oscillations and the elastic properties of steel. The solution of the derived differential equation is based on finite Fourier and Laplace transforms. The proposed methodology is implemented to a representative example and the results are discussed.
