Title: Computer-based training for pipeline pigging
Category: Pigsource Papers
Downloadable: No
Catalog No.: pg1007e
Date of Publication: not available
Price: $25.00 US
Authors: Bruce Pohl and Dan Coffey
Abstract: For the past few years, the pipeline industry has been conducting risk-based analyses of operational tasks to determine areas of potentially high environmental and personal safety-related risks. Interestingly enough, one of the more mundane tasks raised its head and demanded attention - pipeline pigging.

Although "smart" pigs are complicated devices, the procedures involved in loading and unloading scraper pigs is not "rocket science". So why commit resources to creating a computer-based-training program on pigging procedures? Stop for a moment and ask yourself what could go wrong in a simple pigging operation. The answer is PLENTY.
