Title: A scheme for setting pipeline inspection, maintenance and repair priorities
Category: Pigsource Papers
Downloadable: Yes
Catalog No.: pg3192e
Date of Publication: 1994
Price: $25.00 US
Authors: Dr Michael G Kirkwood, M Karam
Abstract: This paper describes a priority-rating scheme based on qualitative risk assessment. It considers the probability and consequences of failure of a pipeline due to the most likely causes. The scheme provides the user with a relative- risk number for each pipeline, compared to other pipelines or pipe segments. The operator is then able to allocate available resources (e.g. corrosion inspection) to the pipeline with the highest relative-risk number.
